A Moment in Time

I’ll start this post off by saying Hi, I’m still around….I think it has been nearly 4 months since I’ve posted anything on here and for that I truly apologize. Life in 2021 hasn’t been easy and I’ve had a hard time creating time and space to sit down and write. But as of writing this the first day of Fall is coming to a close and I wanted to write a little something commemorating that. So without further ado, here’s one of my favorite stories that happened a few Falls ago.

I have not had many moments in my life that have caused me to take notice, a lot of the time I go from place to place watching my phone, refreshing social media, talking to friends or family just constant distraction from the world around me.

However there is one moment I remember clearly, though it happened quite a few years ago now. It was a nice brisk Fall afternoon, the leaves had started to turn varying shades of yellows, oranges, reds and browns. I had gone out for a walk to a nearby grocery store to buy lunch for the day and was on my way home when the world seemed to take a collective breath. Everything stopped…

There was no wind.

no sound.

no cars, no leaves skittering across the ground in a faint breeze….

there was absolutely nothing.

Only stillness and silence.

and I remember stopping, standing there in the middle of the road and looking around in awe of the sudden stand still. I took a breath with the frozen world and waited for the moment to pass.

After a few brief seconds the world came crashing back to life, the wind kicked back in again causing the dead leaves to skip across the roads, cars drove on nearby streets and to this day I’ve never forgotten the feeling of that one brief moment, the moment in time where the world stopped and I was fully present and aware of the world around me.

Since that day I’ve tried to remember that lesson. In all the noise, in the chaos of our day to day lives, I still try to steal my moments in time. A pause, a brief second where I can take stock of the world around me and appreciate the beauty. Try it for yourselves this fall/winter/holiday season, amidst all the hustle and bustle of the last few months of the year, take a moment now and again for yourself, create your little moment in time and if you want, let me know about it in the comments!

Thank you for being here even during my absence! I hope to be updating more often soon!
